Appropriately titled, Breathless with do just that, leave you sitting on the edge of your seat, wanting to read more about High School Senior Tasmyn Vaughn and the mystical town of King.
As if being the new girl at school isn’t hard enough, in book 1 of the series, Fearless, we discover that Tasmyn and her family have moved into a town with a past. King was known for containing several original descendants of carnival families that possessed magical powers. Tasmyn soon discovers that she isn’t the only one with a special gift and finds herself at the center of chaos among a popular group of girls in her school practicing witchcraft. She seeks solace in her best friend and boyfriend, Michael and will do anything to protect him, even if it means jeopardizing her secret.
In Breathless, Tasmyn begins her senior year without her rock, Michael. While he is away at college, she struggles with telling him about some of the things going on in King, for fear that he will worry from afar and want to come home. Tasmyn faces new challenges when Nell, her old classmate, starts visiting her dreams and appears to be trying to send her a message. At school, her classes don’t exactly go as planned when she is requested by Ms. Lacusta, the teacher she suspected responsible for Nell’s involvement in witchcraft last year, for an Independent Study course. Tas finds her curiosity in last year’s events beginning to outweigh her decision-making.
There is also a new boy at school this year, Rafe, who is very interested in Tasmyn and has some secrets of his own.
These books were a very good read and didn’t take me long to finish. Once I grab a good book, I will try to read the entire thing straight through! These books are young adult, urban fantasy, so they would be a great read for teens as well as adults.
