Homemade Bisquick is so easy to make that it only takes about 5 minutes to make! Use this mix for any recipe that calls for Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix.

Ever come across a recipe you are wanting to make and find out it needs Bisquick and never have it on hand? I do!

However, I always have on hand the 4 ingredients needed to make my own and I bet you do too!!

I found myself in this situation around Christmas time. I needed it for my sausage egg breakfast casserole for family brunch.

Best way to prepare Homemade Bisquick

I like to use my food processor or my Ninja blender. It makes the process extremely easy.

Love using this blender to make my morning smoothies and mixing up Homemade Bisquick!

If you don’t have one of these items, don’t worry. You can still make Homemade Bisquick without them.

Simply whisk together the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or a fork to blend in the butter. This may take more time and muscles.

How to make Homemade Bisquick

Place the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) into a food processor.

Pulse for about 15 seconds.

Add in the butter slabs.

Pulse until mixture is blended together. It will somewhat resemble corn meal.

Salted or Unsalted Butter?

Use unsalted butter for this recipe since we are adding salt.

If you only have salted butter on hand, omit the salt from the recipe.

How to store Homemade Bisquick

Store Homemade Bisquick in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. It will last up to 3 months.

I like to use Mason Jars to store my mixture.

How to use Homemade Bisquick

It is a one to one ratio. If a recipe calls for 1 cup of Bisquick, use 1 cup of the homemade version.

This baking mix is perfect to use with any recipe that calls for Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix. Examples are biscuits, garlic cheddar biscuits, dumplings, pancakes, and more!

Description

Homemade Bisquick is so easy to make that it only takes about 5 minutes to make! Use this mix for any recipe that calls for Bisquick or all purpose baking mix.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of flour
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, cut into slabs

Instructions

  1. Place flour, baking powder, and salt into a food processor.
  2. Pulse for approximately 15 seconds to blend.
  3. Add in the butter.
  4. Pulse until fully mixed. (It will have a texture that resembles cornmeal)
  5. The Homemade Bisquick is ready to use or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Notes

If you are using a Ninja Blender, like mine, cut the recipe in half to blend. Also, I have tested this recipe using the Ninja, however, not all blenders may be able to process the recipe.
