This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of JOANN for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
This crochet coaster pattern is perfect for beginning crocheters! This easy crochet coaster pattern only uses single crochet stitches in repeating rows. Before I get the crochet pattern, I wanted to let you in on a little secret of mine. I am in LOVE with the new JOANN app! It is so easy to navigate to which features I am needing at the moment.
My second favorite items on the app is that I can make my own shopping list in the app! While I am in the store collecting my items needed, I can just check them off my list!
No more forgetting my list at home – honestly, who leaves their phone at home. Safest place to be, in my opinion. The number one favorite part of the JOANN app is the coupon area! No more clipping coupons!
Just whip out your phone at checkout, find a coupon that works with your purchase and allow the cashier to scan the bar code on your phone for instant savings! You always have the latest coupons in your pocket! However, the newest feature of the app is pretty cool. There is now a “How To” section to the app. If you are looking for some new craft projects, this is the place to be.
People are adding their projects daily! You can even find a video for this project on the app too! If you find it, make sure to “Save it”.
This part of the app is for everyone! Anyone can upload a project to the how-to section of app. Simply record a video with your phone or upload pictures. Fill in the appropriate information about the project you are submitting then click “Save Project”.
It is very simple to add projects and there is even some in-app editing features to personalize your video! Please make sure you add the instructions to your projects. I have found several neat projects on the app, however there is no instructions. What a bummer!

Easy Crochet Coaster Pattern
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Cotton yarn in your color choice – I used 2 different colors but you can make them all one color
- H Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Digital Row Counter
PATTERN: Row 1: Chain 14. Single Crochet in the second chain from the hook. Continue Single Crocheting into each chain across. Chain 1 and turn your work. Row 2-14: Single crochet in each stitch across. Chain 1 and Turn your work. After Row 14, do not chain 1 and turn your work. Cut your yarn and weave in the ends. If you would like, you may block your coaster squares or just use them like they are. The coaster should be about 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
Reason to use Cotton Yarn vs Acrylic Yarn
The reason for choosing cotton yarn for coaster patterns, is absorbency. Acrylic yarn does not absorb water as well as cotton. It does some but it is just not the same. So, when it comes down to catching the sweat from your glass, cotton is best.
