Since it is Fall and it is getting close to Halloween, I decided I need to crochet something with a jack-o-lantern. A crochet Halloween coffee cup cozy was just thing I wanted to make.

Originally, I wanted the eyes and the mouth to be solid black. I even had it all planned out visually in a spreadsheet. (I will open a new spreadsheet and color in cells of the colors that I want to create a design.) It looked good in my spreadsheet, however, I could not make the stitches work to create the jack-0-lantern face. I tried about 4 or 5 different ways to make this coffee cup cozy but it wasn’t happening. That’s when I came up with the idea of stitching the face onto the cozy. It makes it easy to work up and looks good.

PATTERN:

Row 1: (orange yarn) Chain 30. Slip stitch into the beginning chain to form a circle. Make sure you do not twist the chain. Chain 1 and single crochet around. Slip stitch to join. (30 stitches)

Row 2-10: Chain 1. Single crochet around, slip stitch to join. (30 stitches per row). I used the invisible join on the last row to finish off the cozy. Weave in your ends.

FACE: Thread your black yarn onto your yarn needle and stitch the eyes and mouth onto your cozy. Tie off and weave in your ends.

I like how simple this coffee cup cozy actually turned out. The stitched on features is more appealing than the solid stitches features. Trust me.

    Hi Devon,

Your Halloween crochet pattern cozy is adorable. One of my good friends is big into crochet and I think this may be something that I could try. Thanks for linking it up at the Tips & Tricks party. We hope to see you next week.

I just saw someone using something similar today and thought it was a good idea. I can’t sew or crochet so I’ll need to find someone to make it for me! :)
