Easy Crochet Cord Tutorial Using the Lobster Stitch

I decided that I wanted to put a crochet cord on my new shower pouf that was more than just a simple chainโ€“something that had a little bit of thickness to it and would add to the overall design. I decided to make the crochet cord using the lobster stitch.

Crochet Cord Tutorial Using the Lobster Stitch

Materials:

  • Yarn โ€“ 100% Cotton if you are making it for a shower pouf, or any type of yarn for bracelet-making or grocery bag strap handles.
  • Crochet Hook โ€“ H/8 5.00mm (Use a larger hook if thicker yarn is used)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle (for weaving into project)

Measurements:

Make this cord to be the appropriate length, leaving a 6โ€ณ tail after you finish off for easily attaching to your project.

How To Crochet Cord Using the Lobster Stitch

Chain 2.

Single Crochet in the second chain from the hook. Find the single loop at the bottom of your stitch and Single Crochet through that loop.

At the bottom of your stitch, youโ€™ll now see two loops. Single Crochet through both of them.

Continue this pattern until you reach the desired length. Tie off and leave a 6โ€ณ tail to use to attach to your project.
