These delicious frito bars are so easy even I can make them! Have your kids help you spread out the chips and measure the chocolate candies for a great way to introduce them to cooking.
*Warning* This recipe includes some stove preparation, which is not safe for children as mixture will be boiling hot. Please use caution.
Ingredients
- Fritos, 10-ounce bag
- Sugar, 1-cup
- White Corn Syrup, 1-cup
- Peanut Butter, 1-cup
- Chocolate chips, milk chocolate M&M’s, 1/2-bag
Preparation
Spray a 9’x13′ pan with cooking spray and spread out chips in pan so that they evenly coat the bottom. Boil the sugar and corn syrup for one minute only (no longer). Add the peanut butter to your mixture, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Pour the mixture over the chips in the pan. Let this cool. Before completely cool, add the chocolate chips. Be sure that the mixture is still warm enough that the chocolate chips will stick, however not so warm that they will melt.
After completely cool, cut bars into squares and serve.
Serving size depends on how large of squares you cut. 3″ squares will yield approximately 12 servings.
This recipe stores best when kept in a sealed container so that the chips won’t become stale.
