As we get older, it seems like more memories slip away from us than when we were younger. Combat it these ways to keep your mind sharp. An active brain is best!
Tips For A Sharp Mind
Keeping your brain active and sharp is a great way to help fend off systems of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Follow these simple tips to get your mind active.
Activities That Involve Hand-Eye Coordination
Any movements that encourage finger dexterity is perfect for keeping your mind sharp.
One of the several things I do to help keep my mind healthy is crochet. The simple act of crochet motions you make with your fingers and hands while crocheting, reading a pattern, keeping track of your stitch count help to work your mind and relax it at the same time.
Other activities could include knitting, playing a musical instrument, and building a model set.
Pay Attention To Your Senses
Do you ever have memories triggered by music or the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven?
Paying attention to things around use via our ears, taste, and smell, are all great ways to keep our mind active and sharp.
Yes, even those fun wine tasting trips you take with your friends are also good (in moderation, of course).
Taking A Short Nap
I love taking short naps in the afternoon – if I can fit it in.
The small power naps are essential for keeping our minds fresh. Only about 20 minutes are needed a day.
These naps help with our memory skills just as much as a full nights sleep.
De-Stress With Exercise
You don’t need to go to the gym every day. A nice walk is perfect for allowing your mind to wander and de-stress itself.
I enjoy taking a walk of an evening. It helps me relax and wind down for the night. I also sleep better after a walk.
Work On Puzzle Solving
Working on a puzzle or puzzle games are perfect for keeping your mind healthy. Challenging your brain is the best way to keep it sharp.
One game that I enjoy playing is Zynga Words With Friends 2. I love playing with my friends and family.
It is the perfect way to take small breaks in the day to help keep my mind sharp.
I will play before getting to work to get my mind pumped for the day. Then, I will randomly play my turn throughout the day to help keep my brain active.
If you feel like playing a game, you can find on Words With Friends with the username Devon C.
