Shepherd’s Pie is one of my favorite casserole dishes. I love the combination of the ground beef with the mashed potatoes on top. It’s the best comfort food. Ever.

ShepherdsPie

Velveeta has just come out with Cheesy Casserole Dinner Kits that provide us ingredients to make some of our favorites the quick and easy way. I am all about quick and easy. This entire meal only took about 40 minutes from start to finish.

Velveeta

In the box, you get potato flakes for the mashed potatoes, seasoning mix, vegetables (carrots and peas), and the Velveeta cheese. With just a few additional ingredients, and a very easy assembly process, the Shepherd’s Pie was made and ready to eat. I added ground beef, a can of corn, and used some milk and butter in the preparation process.

Cooking

Once the beef mixture is made, you layer it in a 8×8 casserole dish.

Shepherd's Pie Hamburger

While I was doing this, I was also making the mashed potatoes in the microwave. I layered the hamburger mixture, the Velveeta cheese, and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.

ShepherdsPie

This dinner kit makes approximately 4 1/2 servings, which is perfect for our family of 3. It ensures we usually have a little bit left over for lunch the next day.

Now that I’ve had this dinner kit, I can’t wait to try out the other two!

What are some of your favorite easy meals to prepare for dinner?

I made this dish after holding onto two boxes in the pantry forever since I don’t really like boxed dinners. But it’s in the oven now, hopefully it comes out great. I see the pic above and noticed that I did not have that large amount of vegetables in my mixture. Maybe they’ve cut back. Well it’s starting to smell really good I’m going to Check on it. Just thought I’d post as a first time user of this product. Thanks for sharing!

    Update **

Well I must say, my family disintegrated this whole shepards pie. I couldn’t believe it! Night left overs, NOTHING!! I thought there’d be leftovers as I didn’t feel like cooking tomorrow, but so much for my free day. LOL.

I am really gonna have to get more of this. LOL….WOW! Nothing but good things about this product. From the mom to some very picky eaters I recommend this Shepard’s Pie Meal Kit.

Hi Devon–did YOU (and your family) like this dish from Velveeta? I note you say you love Shepherd’s pie generally, and then go into a discussion of how you made it, how the portion size is right for your family size and then that you can’t wait to try the other two, but the absence of any actual review of the taste of the product is conspicuous. I ask because I’ve got one I’m contemplating making for my family for dinner tonight and found other reviews on other websites saying the actual taste of these Velveeta casserole dishes is not good…. I’d love to hear whether you actually liked it when you ate it!

      Michelle,
This post was written by the previous owner of the blog who enjoyed it with her family. Another, person commented previously that their family enjoyed the meal as well. I personally can not say either way as I have not had the dish. Sorry!

I am not sure. I would refer to the sell by date on the box.

Any idea where I can buy the Velveeta shepherds pie box mix? We love it but haven’t found it in a long time.

Honestly, I don’t know. I have not seen it either. I even tried googling and it appears no one has it. :(
