The Open Hearts Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by Jane Seymour and James Keach. The foundation brings the Open Hearts philosophy to communities world wide and support those that are committed to positively impacting lives in the areas of health, education, arts and sports. The Open Hearts Foundation is having their annual gala on May 10, 2014 to recognize people who share the same philosophy. The funds donated will benefit the Open Hearts Foundation, as well as the honorees chosen charities.
Each honoree will receive a signed limited edition bronze statue which depicts Jane Seymour’s Open Hearts Design. The 2014 honorees are:
- Derrick Hall: President and CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Derrick Hall, is a prostate cancer survivor and passionate about raising awareness of preventative health measures and active in generating widespread financial support for ongoing cancer research and treatments. He has established The Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation, which will provide comprehensive information and support for families dealing with screening, diagnosis, treatment and recovery from Prostate Cancer.
- Travis Mills: As a result of injuries sustained while on tour in Afghanistan, retired US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills is a quadruple amputee survivor. He has founded the Travis Mills Foundation to benefit and assist wounded and injured veterans. Through his foundation and its support of other wounded veteran organizations, Travis continues to inspire veterans to live every day by his personal motto: “Never give up. Never quit.”
- Lauren Parsekian-Paul and Molly Thompson: As the creators and co-founders of the internationally recognized Kind Campaign movement, Lauren Parsekian-Paul and Molly Thompson have created a documentary film, gone on national tours and developed a school program in order to bring awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects of girl-against-girl bullying, which both have dealt with on a personal level.
- Kimberly Williams-Paisley: Actor, writer, director and philanthropist, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, has publicly shared her personal experiences of supporting her mother through the various stages of Dementia in order to raise awareness of the effects Dementia has on the patient, as well as the impact it has on the family and caregivers.
There are an incredible list of attendees and presenters at the gala. These people include: actor Aaron Paul; singer, actress and dancer Julianne Hough; advocate for Alzheimer’s disease awareness and research and 2012 Open Hearts Award honoree, along with her husband, Glen Campbell, Kim Campbell; and actor, best-selling author, motivational speaker and U.S. Army veteran J.R. Martinez.
