Description

This is the recipe for all three cakes to make the dirt, sand, and water in the Minecraft Cake.

The Dirt

  • 1 Duncan Hines Devil’s Food Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 4 Egg Whites
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1/3 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Small Package of Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • 1 Cup of Sour Cream

The Sand

  • 1 Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake Mix
  • 4 Egg Whites
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1/3 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Small Package of Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 1 Cup of Sour Cream

The Water

  • 1 Duncan Hines Blue Velvet Cake Mix
  • 4 Egg Whites
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1/3 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Small Package of Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 1 Cup of Sour Cream

Instructions

The Dirt

  1. Grease and flour a 9×13 pan.
  2. Combine the cake mix, egg whites, water, vegetable oil, pudding mix, and sour cream on low speed.
  3. Once combined, mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Batter will be very thick.
  4. Spoon your batter into your pan. Do not pour. Batter is too thick.
  5. Smooth out the batter in the pan with a spatula.
  6. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Insert a toothpick into the center to see if it comes out clean. If it doesn’t, cook a little longer.
  7. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before flipping it out onto a cooling rack.
