One of my personal goals this year is to get fit, so I was excited to be able to review the iHealth Digital Scale from Best Buy.
The iHealth Digital Scale works with the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad devices. Being a mobile mom, my iPhone is always at my side and it is very handy to have an app that coordinates with my scale. I plan on utilizing this scale and app combo for tracking my weight loss, calories and exercise.
When I first pulled the scale from the box I immediately noticed the sleek design of the device and how light-weight the actual scale was. This scale weighs in at only 4.4 pounds. I like that the top is completely flat and much wider than my current scale. This definitely helps me to keep my balance easier. However you definitely would not want to step on this scale with wet feet because I would see where you could slip very easily on this smooth surface. The feet on the scale move slightly and are padded so that it will not scratch your floor. The directions indicate that you should keep this scale on a flat surface, which means no carpet. We have a hardwood floor in our bathroom, which provided the scale an even surface to sit on.
The iHealth Digital Scale operates with 4 AAA batteries, which were included in the box. They go into the back of the device and upon installation, there is also a switch to move the scale to measure in kg. lb or stone. Since I am in the US, the lb is the standard weight measurement. Once I had the battery cover back on, I then pulled out my iPhone so that I could connect the device to my scale.
Connecting the iHealth Digital Scale to my iPhone was a breeze and took all of 2 minutes. From my iPhone, I visited the iTunes app store and downloaded the free app, called iScale. I then navigated to my iPhone settings, chose “General” and selected “Bluetooth”. Once my bluetooth settings were turned on, I stepped on the scale once, activating the device and pairing it with my iPhone. Once the device was found I simply stepped on the scale an additional time and the device was securely connected. Each time I want to weight myself, I simply pull out my phone, make sure the device is connected and step on the scale.
Weighing yourself with the scale is easy. I stepped on the scale and made sure that my weight was evenly distributed. In a few seconds, my weight displayed both my scale and my iPhone. Once I stepped off, I now that the option to view my entire weight history on my iPhone. From the iScale app, I am also able to enter in my daily calories and my exercise so that I only have to use one centralized app to track everything I need to reach my weight loss goals.
Are there multiple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad users in your household? If so, they can all have a profile to use with the scale. Setting up your profile within the app is simple. There are a few steps to fill out your information, such as age, height and beginning weight and you can easily set your target weight goal and milestones in your profile. I can’t wait to start using this to track my goals and keep on track while losing weight this year!
The iHealth Digital Scale is available for sale at Best Buy for $69.99.
