These lip balms are just so easy to make. I love it!

The Orange Creamsicle has to be my favorite!

I plan to make up a few more lip balm recipes and add them to Christmas gifts this year.

Tip: You will need a kitchen scale to help you measure out the ingredients.

How to Make Orange Creamsicle Lip Balm

Step 1: Measure out beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter and place them in your glass measuring cup. (photo shows each one individually)

Step 2: Fill your large saucepan with about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of water and bring the water to a boil.

Step 3: Once the water is boiling, place the glass measuring cup with the ingredients into the center of the large saucepan.

Step 4: Stir every few minutes until everything is melted.

Step 5: Once it is all melted, remove from heat and let it sit for 3 minutes. While waiting the 3 minutes, line up our lip balm containers so you can fill them.

Step 6: Add wild orange essential oil and pure vanilla extract and stir.

Step 7: Pour mixture into the lip balm containers and let them cool before capping. Be careful not to overfill. It is easy to do, trust me.

Step 8: Once the lip balm is cooled, you can put the caps on and add labels.

Where do you get the containers with lids?

    1. I got them from amazon. Amazon is my best friend for when I have to find things. :)

  2. Great recipe! I’m not fond of the Shea & Cocoa butter smell, so I use Mango butter, which in this case works particularly amazing! Also, I squeezed in some fresh Clementine juice to mix in, and it makes it smell incredible. I could eat it. Thanks for the post! I needed something different to do for the holidays besides the usual!

    1. Did you use a small clementine to extract the juice and did you omit the essential oil?

    2. Did you extract the juice of a clementine instead of using the essential oil? If so, how much did you put in? Thank you.

  3. hi! what is the shelf life of this balm?

    1. I would think it would be anywhere from 3 months to a year.

Signs to look for if you think it has gone bad:
Change in color, Change in Smell, Spots form on the balm (could be mold or bacteria), and if the balm becomes thin.

      I hope this helps!

  4. Can I use vanilla oleoresin instead of extract? And will tubes work for this?

    1. Sorry, I am not sure what Vanilla oleoresin is so I can’t tell you for sure if it will work. Yes, you can use the tubes as well. I just chose the round containers.

  5. I tried your recipe and when I added the vanilla extract in it just congealed. Did I do something wrong. Is this what yours did.

    1. I don’t think so. I can see in the containers that the vanilla solidified first. When I flip it over, I can see it at the bottom.

  6. Would you be able tell me the measurements for 1 of these lip balms? I would like to see if I like it before making such a large quantity.

    1. Sorry, I don’t know what the measurements for 1 is.

  7. To make the orange creamsicle lip balm, could I omit the vanilla extract? I am not fond of vanilla. I will be making these but putting them in tubes which I just purchased from Amazon. Thank you for your recipes. When I make salves and lip balms, I keep them all in the refrigerator and they keep very well for a long time.

    1. Sure, you can omit the vanilla. That is fine. Thanks for the tip for keeping them longer!

  8. Do you have a printable recipe for this? I’d like to keep it to add to my book.

    1. Linda, Sorry I do not have a printable version at the moment.

  9. I made this tonight and it smells heavenly however when I added the vanilla it completely separated. It made me think that the extract is water based and adding it to the oils/waxes it isn’t going to mix. Nice idea though. I was able to let the vanilla settle at the bottom and not let it mix in my tubes. I didn’t want the cocoa flavor and I didn’t have Shea so I just used mango. It turned out fabulous.
