Zebra Print Framed Plastic Bag Art {Glad Black Bag}

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Glad Black Bag and received a Glad Black Bag product, a craft kit and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Here at Midwestern Moms, we love to create art with recycled materials. There is something that excites me about taking something old and finding a new use for it. In fact, I have my husband trained now so that anytime he throws anything away he will ask me if I’m going to need it for a project.

Glad just hosted a black bag art auction with Jason Mecier, the Picker Sisters and Keep America Beautiful to show how you can turn trash into something beautiful. The Glad Black Bag is there when life gives us those messy moments and is strong enough to keep them “in the bag.”

I was given the challenge to create something using the new Glad Black Bag and turn Trash Into Treasure. My project is Zebra Print Framed Art.

Supplies:

• 1 Floating Frame
• 1 Glad Black Bag
• Sharpie
• Scissors
• Zebra Pattern

Directions:

Step 1:  I found an image of a zebra pattern on my computer and printed two copies.

Step 2:  Cut out the black zebra strips from one of the sheets of paper.

Step 3:  Lay the trashbag out flat. Using a black marker, such as a Sharpie, trace the pattern onto the trash bag.

Step 4:  Cut your zebra stripes out of the bag.

Step 5:  Separate your floating frame. Place the other copy of your zebra pattern underneath one of the pieces of glass to use as a pattern guide.

Step 6:  Lay the stripes on the glass. The nice thing about trashbags and glass is that they stick together themselves and there is no glue required for this project!

Step 7:  When you are complete with laying the stripes onto the glass and satisfied with the way that they look, place the other piece of glass over the top and secure your frame around it.

That’s it! A very simple, yet modern looking art project!

I loved creating this with the ForceFlex Black Bags by Glad because they have a bit of texture, which gave the stripes a very unique look to them when you view them from different angles.

When I’m not crafting with the Glad Black Bags, I use them for many purposes. These are the best bags to use for party clean-up! You can throw anything in them and not have to worry about them leaking or breaking. The ForceFlex will bend with you, which is great for me because I usually lug our trash down a flight of stairs to the receptacle. These bags are very hard to rip or tear.

My next favorite feature is the fact that you can get them with drawstrings! When you are bagging up a large load, it is nice to have the drawstrings to tie the bag up and carry it.
