GoGreen Diapers was founded in 2010 by Leah Leverich Ph.D and Don Cooper Ph.D in Boulder, Colorado. They realized the impact of disposable diapers on the environment and their pocket book, so they pursued cloth diapering. They fell in love with the fluff and created their own cloth diaper.
I received the Giraffe Print Champ 2.0 for review. I was really excited about receiving this diaper for a couple of reasons. It is the first modern cloth diaper I have used. It is a one-size diaper (7 pounds to 40+ pounds). Also, it’s giraffe print (we had a giraffe theme for our son)!
The first thing I noticed when I got the Champ, was that the outside of the shell was super soft! On the inside, it was soft as well and had dual elastics around the leg holes to keep messes in the diaper. The insert was very easy to place inside the diaper with the dual pocket opening. The insert also had a snap to keep it in place and is made with 3 layers of microfiber.
I followed the instructions on the tag of the diaper for washing. Once prewashed, it was time to figure out the right fit. My son is a really long, lean baby, and I was able to get a good fit around his waist and legs. If your baby needs more room in the legs or waist, you can achieve a perfect fit with the two rows of snaps. There is also an additional hip snap to keep the wings from drooping.
My son wore the Champ for a considerable amount of time in comfort! I was super excited. The microfiber insert was super absorbent and the soft, stay dry lining kept the moisture away from my son’s skin. I even took my son out of the house in this diaper and was confident! There was no way I would take my son out in a prefold diaper. I reach for the Champ before I reach for my prefolds when it is diaper changing time. Also, you do not have to remove the insert from the diaper if you do not want to. I unsnapped the insert and threw it in the washer. During the washing process, the insert came out of the shell on its own.
The Giraffe Print Champ 2.0 can be bought on the Go Green Diapers website for $15.95.
