Fall is my favorite time of year… as long as I remember to take my allergy medicine.
I am allergic to a multitude of things that bloom during the late summer and then spread when the wind starts to pick up during the fall season. I’ve actually been tested and am allergic to 7 types of ragweed. Who knew there were that many?
The key to our family wellness during this season is prevention. Thanks to the affordable version of allergy medicine provided by Walgreens, my husband and I can open up the windows and enjoy the cool breeze at night without waking up swollen in the morning.
I wasn’t always so smart. I used to suffer from sinus infections and bronchitis at a minimum of 4 times per year. When each of the seasons changed, I would always spend about a week in bed. By taking simple steps such as allergy medicine and using a neti pot regularly, we have been illness free for at least 2 years now. Amazing, right?! We love feeling great and also love the money we are not spending on doctor bills and prescription meds.
What is a neti pot? If you suffer from sinuses, a neti pot is a must have in my opinion. It looks like a tiny genie lamp.
To use the neti pot, you fill it with a mixture of warm water and salt and then insert the spout into your nose while you lean forward. As your sinuses become unclogged, the water will run through one nostril and back out the other. It will take several times before you get it right, but once you have it perfected, you will love the immediate relief you can get from this. I purchased mine at Walgreens and it came with full instructions of how to use it included on the package.
What steps do you take to practice good family wellness as the weather gets cooler. Please share them with us. I hate to rush winter, but I know that I love the first good frost when it kills all of the weeds!
