Now that the weather is getting colder, we have discovered that it is time to begin preparing for cold and flu season at our house. We get our fair share of running noses, sinus infections, and general colds during this season and it always helps to have some supplies on hand to be prepared. After all, no one wants to have to get out and go to the store once they have the cold.
Walgreens has recently launched their Balance Rewards Loyalty Card program. I have used the Walgreens iPhone app for years, but never had a loyalty card. Signing up was simple and I could do it either in store, or right from my iPhone app!
The sign up process was simple. All I had to do was login with my account, and confirm that the information in my profile was correct. The nice thing about using this app is that you can pull your Loyalty Card up on your phone and they can scan your phone right there at the store, no more digging through your purse for cards! If you would like to see my signup process along with my shop, please visit my Google + album here.
If you have an iPhone and are on iOS 6, you can also use this app with PassBook and the store will be able to have your card in their system ready to go if you are within a certain distance of your local store. Cool, huh?
With the Walgreens app you can also easily look up the newest sales and see which items you purchase daily will give you balance rewards. You can also earn rewards by filling prescriptions, and you can earn 10 points for every mile you walk with the Walk with Walgreens program. When you reach 5,000 balance rewards points, you can redeem for $5 off of your purchase! Plus, balance rewards members receive special sale prices on items that are only available to members. It’s free to sign up and extremely simple to use.
During my shop for cold and flu items, I noticed special signage on the items that you could get balance rewards or sale pricing on.
During my shopping trip, I spent $27 and also earned 4,000 balance rewards points. I was really happy with that!
Are you signed up for the Balance Reward Loyalty Card yet at Walgreens? If so, what are you looking forward to using your points toward?

Nice! I used to shop Walgreens deals all the time, but I kind of got away from it. I have to get back there.
I love how the app works now. I’ve been using it for prescription refills for years, but they have really improved with the loyalty points.
Great job on saving and getting those balance reward points!
