Since my husband and I both own our own businesses, lunch is often “quick” because it is usually the time of day when we are scrambling around trying to get everything completed if we are behind schedule. We often look for meals that we can pop in the microwave that don’t take much effort to create so that we can eat and be on our way again.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Barilla Microwaveable Meals. The Mezze Penne with Spicy Marinera sauce is the one that I have poured on my plate and photographed above. Looks tasty, right? Can you believe that only took 60 seconds?
These microwaveable meals come in 5 different varieties: Mezze Penne with Tomato & Basil sauce, Mezze Penne with Traditional Marinera sauce, Mezze Penne with Spicy Marinera sauce, Whole Grain Fusilli with Vegetable Marinera sauce, and Whole Grain Mezze Penne with Tomato & Basil sauce.
Each package contains 1 serving of pasta (noodles and sauce), is less than 320 calories, and is 100% natural with no preservatives. They also contain between 9-11 grams of protein per serving and are rich in fiber, vitamin A, and the whole grain pastas are a great source of iron.
The best part about these meals of course is that they are ready in just 60 seconds and taste great. They come pre-packaged and have a shelf-life of up to 12 months that you can safely store them. When you open the package, the sauce is stored separately from the noodles, allowing you to place as much, or as little, sauce on them as you want. These have been great for us and a nice alternative to grabbing fast-food for sure!
