We have two dogs, a rat terrier and a yorkie, that we treat like they are members of our family. I’ve had my rat terrier since the summer of 1999, which makes him 13 years old in human years. Let’s see, in dog years that would be 91!
Regardless of age, I think my dogs are great. When my rat terrier was a wee pup, I spent hours teaching him how to sit and roll over. Along the way, he decided himself to add a spin move, creating his own unique way to “earn’ his treats. We like to call it “Tricks for Treats.”
Purina Pro Plan is holding a contest and wants to know “How is your dog great?”
To enter, capture your dog in a short, 2 minute or less video that shows how great they are. Your video should capture special moments in your dog’s life and inspire others to discover how great their pets are. Visit the Purina Pro Plan You Tube Channel to upload your video by August 27, 2012. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a year’s supply of Purina Pro Plan dog food and their video will be featured in the commercial unveiled at the 2013 Westminster Dog Show, which is sponsored by Purina Pro Plan.
How it works: After you upload your video, an independent panel of judges will select 10 finalists to move on to the next round. Videos will be judged based upon creativity, composition and originality. Starting on September 10th, public voting will begin on the 10 finalists and continue through October 8th.
Nestle-Purina has always been a part of our dog’s lives. I grew up in Missouri, which is also home to the Nestle-Purina North American Headquarters. They are a leader in pet food and care products and we love the Purina Pro Plan and how it is tailored to meet our dog’s needs. Since my rat terrier is considered a senior, his needs are different than that of our yorkie, who is only 5. My rat terrier recently had to have several teeth removed and it is nice to be able to have the options to purchase his food in both wet and dry varieties as well.
Even though having two small dogs and a small child is a lot of work, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is fun to see my older dog and my daughter interact because she acts like his mother. She will hug him, pet him and even tries to cover him up with blankets when she thinks he is cold. It’s special moments like those that make me smile and I am proud that my dogs are so great.
