When our daughter was born, I was still working and was beside myself on what to do about childcare. Since we were fairly new to the area, and hadn’t been able to get on a waiting list, I felt very uneasy about simply calling around to places to see if they had an opening. Since I didn’t know any moms in the area to ask, I turned to the Internet to see if I could read reviews about different providers and research them online. Much to my dismay, in our area not many childcare providers were online, so I felt like I was back to square one.
Eventually, things worked out for our family that I was able to find someone for a brief amount of time and then was able to quit working and stay at home, however many parents don’t have that option. I wish I would have known about Mom Trusted so that I could connect with moms that would be able to point me in the right direction.
About Mom Trusted
Mom Trusted is a website started by parents who understood the frustration that we go through when choosing a daycare provider. They understand that moms today turn to the Internet as a resource when seeking a preschool, daycare provider, babysitter or nanny and started the website as a means to help them with that. They allow both parents and providers to join the website for free and help them get connected with each other by offering a local search based upon your zip code.
Searching For Providers
When searching for providers, all you have to do is enter your zip code and click the search button. You then have the option to filter your search to childcare centers, in home care, babysitters, nannies or preschools. You can also search for the provider by their name and find where they are located on the local map of your area. More search options are allowed to filter your results to the rate range you are willing to pay, openings for your child’s age, if your child has special needs or if the daycare provider will take vouchers.
Just For Parents
Joining the website is a very simple process. You can connect using your Facebook account, or sign up via your email address. Once you are signed up, you can edit your profile to give more information about yourself and what you are looking for. A unique feature that I found helpful, is that after you sign up, they show you other parents that have signed up near you. You also have the option to create your own groups and could have a group specifically for your city and lead the conversation about childcare and education in your area!
Mom Trusted also has a blog where you can learn more about early education, industry specific events and they even offer activities and printables for preschoolers! To learn more and connect with Mom Trusted you can “like” them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.
