The Walmart Foundation, Feeding America and four of the biggest food brands in America – ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s – have partnered together to create the Fighting Hunger Together campaign to launch this Spring.

Food banks and charities typically see the lowest donation rates during the springtime due to unemployment. More than 50 Million Americans struggle with hunger. Because of this, the Fighting Hunger Together initiative was born to help assist in helping communities fight hunger. Between April 9th and April 30th you can Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart.

The vote will be conducted based upon the Department of Labor’s 200 communities with the largest rate of unemployment. Walmart will donate $1 Million to the community that receives the most support and $50,000 to 20 runners-up. A total of 21 communities will be receiving assistance to help fight hunger in their area.

My vote this year will be cast for Kansas City, MO. It is the closest community located to me and I am originally from Missouri, so I would like to give them all of the support I can since no communities were chosen from my own state. You will be able to vote for a community on Facebook starting April 9th, 2012.

Please vote and share the word! During the campaign, you will also be able to help by purchasing selected products from the four food brands mentioned above (Con Agra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s), who will be donating meals to Feeding America or Action for Healthy Kids. Look for information on the packaging of these products and also store signage for more information.

Let’s help make a difference for our community!
