Celebrate National Nutrition Month With The Mushroom Council #Mushrooms

I love mushrooms, so anytime I can sneak them into a meal, I will! They are low calorie, contain zero fat and are the only vegetable to contain Vitamin D!

Join The Mushroom Council in swapping in mushrooms for meat during National Nutrition Month! Turns out, mushrooms have awesome swapability with ground beef or turkey. Check out some of the delicious images below of recipes that have swapped out the meat for mushrooms! Don’t they look delish? (The meatballs are already on my menu for this weekend!)

Did you know mushrooms are also a natural source for some of antioxidants for immune system health? They also contain Vitamin B to give you energy and help with the breakdown of carbs and fats.

So, how do you swap in mushrooms in your favorite dish?

  • Chop them up and make sure that they match the consistency of the meat you ra replacing.
  • Add them to ground beef, or turkey, so that you don’t have to use as much of the actual meat. (This is a great tip for your pocketbook also.)
  • Cook and season them the exact same way.

Yes, it’s that easy!

Looking for more recipes? I promise you won’t be sorry if you visit the Fresh Mushrooms website! Not only do these recipes look amazing, think of all the benefits you will be getting by feeding them to your family! I often worry about Vitamin D myself since I am indoors a lot and now that I know mushrooms contain this vitamin, I definitely will be incorporating them in many more meals!
